Coaching is a result-oriented, customised development process. Its aim is to unlock and strengthen the individual’s potential, and hence, to improve their professional attitude and performance.
The coaching process is always a creative and thought-provoking conversation between equal partners. Such conversations are to be based on trust, honesty and openness. The non-judgemental and empathetic presence of the coach, and the duty of confidentiality – which is there to protect you not only during the process, but following it as well – also contribute to the establishment of trust.
Coaching is about results, about moving forward, about change, about becoming more aware of ourselves and others and about taking responsibility for our own lives.”
What is NOT coaching?
Coaching is a helping profession supporting the client to increase awareness. It bears some resemblance to other helping professions, but at the same time it can be clearly distinguished from them.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching supports healthy individuals to develop mentally and spiritually, to reach a better quality of life, to overcome the difficulties they may face and to define their self-identity. During the process we look at the desired objective from the standpoint of the present, focusing on the future. A coach does not give advice and does not seek to influence you. On the contrary, a coach assumes, that you are already in possession of all the knowledge needed to improve your life.
What is the difference between coaching and training?
Coaching always takes the form of individual conversations and the coaching process itself is open ended, meaning that at the beginning and during the process you cannot tell what kind of answers you will arrive at at the end of it.
What is the difference between coaching and mentoring?
A coach does not give you advice and does not tell you what the adequate or appropriate solution in a given situation is. A coach will help you to take a conscious look at your circumstances, and hence, to find the solution that works best for you.
What is the difference between coaching and counselling?
Beyond addressing the specific problem, the coaching process also brings the individual into focus and with the help of awareness it triggers a natural development process enabling you to work out the solutions yourself.
